The D.I.O.P. Male Mentoring Program of Friendship-West Baptist Church is a male mentoring ministry for young men ages 5-18. We are called to be a caring community of Christian men committed to preparing young men in order that they may become Godly leaders of tomorrow. We stand firm in the belief that discipline, order, and structure are the basis for spiritual training and development. And we recognize that there are no rewards without works. Therefore we are preparing young men to be soldiers in the Army of the Lord so that they can continue to edify God and build up His Kingdom.
D.I.O.P. is Swahili word and means "young ruler" and "scholar." The acronym Disciples In Ongoing Preparation was adopted in 2004. D.I.O.P. focuses on seven life principles: Spiritual Maturity, Emotional Stability, Mental Excellence, Cultural Dignity, Social Restoration, Physical Fitness, and Financial Freedom.
We enlighten young males through Christ in discipline, order, and structure to become young men. Our mission is based in scripture: “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways (I Corinthians 13:11) and "train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6)."
