About Us

The ASHANTI Mentoring Ministry is a Rites of Passage program that disciples and mentors girls from ages 8 to 18 from a Christian perspective, equipping them with the wisdom and skills necessary for their transition into womanhood. Each young woman and girl is assigned a mentor for guidance. We teach various biblical, moral, and spiritual lessons based on real-life situations. We are building the next generation of godly women.

Our ministry trains young women in six areas of focus:
Spirituality
Personal Identity/Self-Development
African and African-American Cultural Awareness
The Role of Women in the Family and Community
Stewardship
Cooperative Economics

We teach our young women and girls that beauty is an external value by the world's standards, but as Christians, beauty is first and foremost a symbol of the unseen glory of God.  As we behold the glory of the Lord, we are transformed into His image.  The inner beauty He creates within us can then be reflected in our behavior and outward appearance.  When women are free to reflect the feminine image of God the world will see true beauty. Our scriptural focus comes from 1 Timothy 4:12, "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."
