Connection Center

The Connection Center is designed to direct and connect you with the specific classes and ministries that will help you discover and develop God’s personal purpose and plan for your life.

ARJ Senior Adult Community

The ARJ Senior Adult Community is designed for those in our congregation and community who are age 65 and older. We seek to provide an atmosphere where our older Saints may continue to grow in God’s will and way by studying His word; fellow-shipping with other members of Friendship-West and the surrounding community; and ministering to those who are in need (through individual acts of service and through visits to nursing homes).

Ashanti Female Mentoring Community

Our Ashanti Community is dedicated to developing young ladies, ages 8 -18, into the strong women God has called them to be. These young ladies are assigned mentors for guidance. We teach various lessons based on situations that occur in their everyday lives.

Bereavement Community

The Bereavement Community brings comfort to families during their time of loss. They assist with funerals, wake services, as well as follow-up calls and initial arrangements for home going services.

C.H.O.S.E.N. 

Howard Thurman Bible Institute

The Howard Thurman Bible Institute was formed to transform the mind of believers through socially conscience teaching and sound doctrine through various classes.

Comforters Community

The Comforters Community assists in “Bridging the Gap” of pastoral care. Our goal is to link all aspects of pastoral care together to form a net to catch those who have fallen. We provide counseling support during business hours and especially Sunday mornings when many of our members and non-members need a helping hand and ear. The Comforters lead in the area of “follow-up” after a tragedy or misfortune.

The Covenant
Keepers 

The Covenant Keepers Marriage helps to empower, support and train people to grow in their marriages, allowing them to successfully navigate their way through the marital stages. The marriage community is open to all married couples.

Women of the West 

W.O.W. is designed for women of all ages in Friendship-West. Together we hold a host of meeting and events including Bible study, panel discussions and relevant teaching from a woman’s perspective.

Deacons 

The Deacons  assist in funerals and wakes of families of our church, visit hospitals, nursing homes and some homebound members. They work closely with the Hospitality and Connection Center to ensure coupling with new membership and the body.

D.I.O.P. 

The D.I.O.P Community embraces and mentors young men ages 13-18. Our goal is to train young boys to be spiritually mature; emotionally stable; mentally excellent; culturally dignified; socially aware; physically fit; and financially free for the benefit of themselves, their DIOP brothers, church, and community.

D.I.S.C.O.V.E.R. Children’s 

D.I.S.C.O.V.E.R serves our children ages 0-12.  Our goal is to ensure that DISCOVER will be an integral and relevant element in the village that raises the children in our communities to be and do all that God has purposed and planned for their lives.

F.A.I.M.

The F.A.I.M. Community teaches financial literacy and empowers the members of the church to move into financial covenant with God.

Faith Fitness

Faith Fitness Community provides fitness, nutritional education and group activities in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

First Friends

The First Friends Community not only wants to welcome new members to their new church family, but we want to walk with them on their new journey in Christian discipleship. Jesus says in John that he no longer calls us servants but calls us friends.  Join us in making sure every new member has a Christian friend. Stop by rooms E117 and E113 after any Sunday service and/or Email First Friends.

G.A.A.P. Community

The G.A.A.P. Community shares in the responsibility of corporate prayer. Each Wednesday before Word and Wonders Bible study, the GAAP community leads the prayer time. This time of prayer is very important to the foundation of pastor’s vision. This community intercedes on behalf of the member/person to stand in the gap during times of need.

Generation N.E.X.T.

GENERATION N.E.X.T. consists of college students and young adults (18-24).  We assist in transforming the lives of young adults by providing spiritual guidance, educational and entertaining activities.

Healthcare Community

The Healthcare Community makes a difference in the community as well as Sunday services. They are the contact ministry for the pastoral care hotline. The Healthcare team designates team members to visit those who are hospitalized, coordinate support for funerals held at FWBC, and serve throughout the community at various health fairs and other community events.

HOPE

The HOPE Community serves those who have been infected or diagnosed with the HIV/AIDS virus. This community assists with many foundations and agencies with community awareness programs. Throughout the year they conduct confidential testing which allows individuals the privilege of knowing their status.

Hospitality

Our mission is to extend a warm and friendly greeting to members and visitors who enter Friendship-West Baptist Church and to assist in all church functions that require Hospitality services. Though we may not know the needs of each worshipper, we do know that every smile, hello and hug brightens someone’s day and we are grateful and privileged to be one of the instruments God uses to help meet the needs of our congregation.

New Member
Education 

New Member Education teaches believers the basics of Christianity, empowers them to continue in Spiritual Growth and encourages them to become active in ministry after discovering their God-given Spiritual Gifts.

New Life Support 

New Life Support helps those who are dealing with addiction, hurting, and are in need of healing. Our goals are to emphasize there is power through prayer and that God still works miracles; encourage the participation of family and friends of those in recovery; and stress to our church members and community, there are various types of addiction, not just alcohol or drugs such as verbal abuse, smoking, caffeine, depression, lust, eating disorders, behaviors, etc. We provide activities, events, and programs, (mini workshops), related to substance abuse, HIV/Aids and prison.

On A Mission

On A Mission is committed to leading changed people to change the world by serving in Urban Mission efforts. OAM is committed to evangelize the lost; disciple believers; minister to the needy; feed the hungry; clothe the poor; shelter the homeless; empower the oppressed; equip and educate God’s people by working together with other believers to mobilize prayer support; appoint urban missionaries; and enlist volunteers.

Operation B.L.A.C.C. 

Brothers Loving and leading the African-American Church and Community
Develops and disciplines African-American men for ministry and leadership in the Home, Church, and Community. As a result of consistent participation in OBLACC, we pray that men will allow God to strengthen their spiritual maturity and continue to grow them in areas such as Faithfulness; Responsibility; Stewardship; Accountability; and an unquenchable desire to become more like Christ daily

Operation Transformation Community ventures out into the community as vehicles of God to create a community of spiritually enlightened, productive and fulfilled people.

The Single’s Community

The Single’s Community of Friendship-West Baptist Church helps Singles who are single by choice or circumstance to develop into mature Christ followers. Whether you are divorced; widowed; single and never married; or a single parent, we invite you to join us in building relationships, having fun, and understanding more about God’s plan for your life.

SELAH 

SELAH is our youth music ministry. We minister on 4th Sundays at the 10:45 am service. Practices are held on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.

Sports and Recreation 

Sports and Recreation provides activities, events, and programs that allow FWBC members, attendees and neighbors in the community an opportunity to enjoy competitive, fun, and spirit-filled sports and recreation activities.

The T.L. Bonds Safety 

The T.L. Bonds Safety is a safety and crime prevention ministry that reduces the risks of adverse actions that may occur within the place of worship.

Ushers

Ushers are a vital link in providing our guests with a warm and loving atmosphere. Their responsibilities include seating members and guests. Our goal is to provide each of our guests with a comfortable worship experience in the house of the Lord.

Vision Writers 

Vision Writers performs research, compiles and writes grants to organizations that will fund the Friendship-West community in Outreach, In-reach and Up-reach programs.

Voices That Shout

Voices That Shout provides safety, education and support to individuals who are struggling in an abusive relationship and points them to God as the stabilizer and focus point for their lives. Come be a voice within this church to embrace individuals who need healing and help them to know that someone cares and loves them.

Veterans Community

"Serving Those Who Serve" (STWS)
​Mission:
 Support military families at Friendship-West Baptist Church and communities
Action: This ministry will have support groups for Veterans and spouses.  Organize fun time for military children.  Provide spiritual support to our military families overseas and at home.  Also this ministry will provide care packages for our military veterans overseas.
Focus Scripture: Matthew 25:35-36
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
