Reverend Rickey D. Hill
Executive Pastor, Friendship-West Baptist Church

Rickey D. Hill exemplifies Jesus’ greatest commandment – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the son, and the Holy Ghost.” (Matthew 28:19). A charismatic teacher and wonderful leader make him a living example for the “Work of Christ”. Rickey Hill strives every day to become like his Savior – Jesus Christ. “ As far back as I can remember, I have always been a part of the church and believed in Christ.” He was baptized at age six and reaffirmed his belief in Christ at age twelve. “As a child, I was often perplexed by the testimonies of Christians on the exact day, time, place and moment of their conversion. I cannot recall a time when I did not believe in Christ.”

Although he had been “preaching” and teaching God’s Word for many years, Reverend Hill did not accept his calling to the ministry until 1997. His corporate and secular experience and achievements are unparalleled for such a young man. He began his vocational career as a project engineer and in a few short years was promoted to positions in plant management. He has managed manufacturing and operational facilities from Texas to Florida. Even with all of his success, he counts it as nothing in the words of Paul, for the sake of the kingdom. In 1997, Reverend Hill left corporate America to enter into full time service for Christ as Pastor of Administration and Education for Friendship-West Baptist Church under the great leader and orator Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III, Senior Pastor. Currently, Reverend Hill serves as the Executive Pastor. He is considered to be a voice of reason in the midst of chaos, an excellent counselor, confidant, a great father, a highly effective administrator and most of all, a great believer of Christ.

An active member of Friendship-West Baptist Church since 1989, Reverend Hill has served in various positions, including Christian Education Board Member, Board of Trustees, Deacon’s Ministry and the church’s Men’s Ministry (Operation B.L.A.C.C.). He was also active in the community coaching Little League football for over 10 years and is a member of the N.A.A.C.P. He credits his personal growth and development to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, which came at a pinnacle point in his life, where he served as the 2 nd Vice District Representative of the 9 th District. As an undergraduate at the University of Houston he was active in politics and oversaw the administration of the campus student bookstore. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1982 and in December of 2003 he received his Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His success and credentials were chronicled by his induction into the Who’s Who of Professional Management and Who’s Who of Young Outstanding Leaders. His unique ability in combining over 20 years of Organizational Behavioral Management in Corporate America with his dynamic presentation skills make him a highly sought after workshop facilitator. He is a lecturer, teacher and mentors several pastors.

Reverend Hill is a native of Fort Worth, Texas and has been married to Detra Green Hill, an attorney for 24 years. They are the very proud parents of Sean Christopher, 20, a junior majoring in Computer Science and Sports Management at the University of Texas in Austin and Alexandria Brianne 16, a junior in high school.
