FWBC THE OFFICE OF JUSTICE
				WELCOME TO FWBC OFFICE OF JUSTICE The Office of Justice was established to focus on systematic problems, structural institutional evils and the church's call to be prophetic in the 21st Century. Our goal, as we learn and grow, is to address social, political and economic inequalities. The purpose and function of the Office of Justice at Friendship-West, is to marry and merge the concepts of social service and social justice. It’s one thing to feed, clothe and assist a person with rent and utilities. It’s another to ask the important question, what causes one to have need? Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III states, “the church must not limit its ministry to feeding fish to the poor or even teaching them how to fish, but the church needs to ensure that the lake is free of contaminants.” Freeing a lake from contaminants and addressing environmental racism is political and policy driven. Dr. Haynes goes on to say, “then empower the disadvantaged to buy the lake.” Now, buying the lake—that’s economic and social justice at its best.
