Dr. John Wilson, III
Pastor of Christian Education, Friendship-West Baptist Church

Dr. John W. Wilson III was born in Los Angeles, California. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from San Diego State University in 1983. In 1998 he graduated from The Criswell College, Dallas, Texas, where he received his Masters of Christian Leadership. In May 2002 he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas with a Masters of Divinity with biblical languages. He completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at George W. Truett Theological Seminary (on the campus of Baylor University) in Waco, in December 2010.

Dr. Wilson was called to the ministry in January 1998, licensed in 1999 and ordained in 2000. He currently serves as Pastor of Christian Education for Friendship-West Baptist Church. Dr. Wilson oversees several programs including Ministers in Training, Teacher and Leadership Certification training, and the Howard Thurman Bible Institute. He is passionate about teaching and preaching the prophetic Word of God and instructing people in sound doctrine.

Dr. Wilson’s previous work experience is concentrated in insurance, investments, finance, and banking. Has worked for such companies as American Express Financial Services, Transamerica Occidental Life, Bank One, Texas and The Associates.

Dr. Wilson is happily married to Sherry Lynn Brown. They are proud parents of five boys, John IV, Joshua Weldon, Jordan Webb, Jered Wendell, and Justus Woodson. Dr. Wilson is heard every Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the internet @KGCMradio.com. He hosts the program: “Thoughts In Theology.”
