Reverend Dr. Brianna Parker
Pastor of Assimilation
The Reverend Doctor Brianna K. Parker graduated from Arizona State University with the recognition as an “Exceptional Graduate” of her class for receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science after only two years of enrollment. Accepting academic responsibility for her calling, she completed her Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, where she was awarded the Norman Vincent Peale preaching scholarship, in 2006. Brianna graduated with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling after studying with the renowned scholar, Dr. David W. Augsburger. While working in full-time ministry, Brianna attained a Master of Arts in Church-State Studies from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she explored the intersection of religion and public policy. In 2016, Brianna completed a Doctor of Ministry at Virginia Union University’s Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, where her research birthed groundbreaking work on Black millennials and faith.
Utilizing her studies in Pastoral Care and Counseling, she has volunteered as the Marriage and Family Pastoral Counselor. While in seminary, Brianna served as the youth pastor at South Pasadena Christian Church. Post-seminary, Brianna began working with the Young Adult Ministry at Tanner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and as a chaplain resident at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.
Outside of congregational ministry, Brianna served as the chaplain of Hillsides Group Home in Pasadena, CA, where she created a safe religious space for traumatized youth of various backgrounds. Brianna is also the founding curator of the Black Millennial Café, established as a resource for black churches and other institutions seeking to engage black millennials.
Reverend Bri currently serves Friendship-West Baptist Church as the Pastor of Assimilation under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglass Haynes III who also ordained her. Brianna, concurrently, serves as an adjunct professor and Coordinator of College Assembly at Paul Quinn College, where she endeavors to bring Christ to the youth of today to ensure a better tomorrow.
Brianna is the proud mother of one nephew, Brionn Branch, and is appreciative of the familial ties that have led to support and endurance during life’s challenges.
