Who is a Caregiver?
A Caregiver is a person who assumes the responsibility for assisting and caring for an individual who cannot carry out the basic activities of daily living (eg. feeding, bathing, toileting, etc.) Caregivers may be spouses, children, parents, grandparents, or other relatives, neighbors, church members and others who can share the responsibilities of caregiving and alleviate some of the burden of care, on an informal basis, without pay.
A Caregiver may be anyone of any age. Most Caregivers are in their 30s and 40s taking care of parents, relatives, friends and neighbors who may be over age 60 or children who may be under age 18.
Caregivers often neglect their own needs because of their goal to provide the best care possible for their loved ones. Please take the time to check the Caregiver Survey* and let us know how we may help you.
