Good News Update!!!!!!
Community Home Makeover Kick-Off A Huge Success!
August 2, 2008

This goes out as a special thanks to Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III, members of F.W.B.C family and the End Racism in Arlington (ERA) movement along with the dozens of volunteers from the DFW community that came out to be a part of the “Home Makeover for B and Silk.”

You generous help breathed great rejuvenating life into efforts to return this courageous family back to their wonderful home. Last year family members were the victims of brutal racist attacks.

Volunteers participated in such work as painting all closets, hallways as well as assembled bathroom cabinets, and performed dirt excavations. A licensed plumber helped to complete some plumbing needs. In addition ERA members made sure there were plenty of bottled water, ice and wholesome snacks to go around. A family even purchased pizza for the hard working crew.

It was a very successful day indeed. Volunteers performed tasks in one day that normally would take as many as three. We truly appreciate all of them.

Still there’s a lot more that has to be done before the family can receive its certificate of occupancy from the City of Arlington to move in, but with Saturday’s work we are well on our way.

Therefore, we ask that you stop and take the time to dig deep and help with any materials or monetary donations you can to assist efforts to complete the scope of work that needs to be done.

Come join Pastor Haynes, B and Silk, ERA volunteers along with community volunteers each Saturday @ 10:00 a.m. and any day in between help us turn this families’ house into a home again. For more please call 972-228-7297.

Thank you,
ERA Movement

Fighting Racial Injustice in Arlington

Broderick Gamble and Silk Littlejohn, moved into their Arlington home in the summer of 2005, it was burned to the ground. Fire officials ruled it an accidental blaze caused by an iron that was left on. Over the next two years the couple found dozens of dead animals thrown in their yard and witnessed other experiences with racist overtones.

On December 19, 2007 Grace Snowden Head, an white woman, trashed the couples front yard. Later that day she came back to the couple’s home using racial slurs and threats commanding her Doberman Pincher to attack the couple. While the couple was distracted defending themselves against the dog, Ms. Head picked up a two-by-four and hit Ms. Littlejohn in the face. Ms. Head continued her tirade jumping on top of the couple’s car stomping it.

Two days after that attack Mr. Gamble was called by a neighbor to his home where he found the words "KILL" and "DIE NIGGER" spray-painted on his garage doors. Although Grace Head had posted bond the police said they didn't know who had done it.

Ms. Head was originally charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespass and failure to identify herself to a police officer. Jail Supervisor Sgt. B. Bates concluded a 2x4 was not considered a deadly weapon; therefore he dropped the original charge to simple assault. Head was then released on $ 4000.00 bond and was not charged with a hate crime even though Lt. Blake Miller told the media “It was clearly a racial tirade [that] Ms. Head went on”, Lt. Miller said, adding that Ms. Head refused to leave the couple's property even after an officer ordered her to do so.”

Words of Gratitude and Praise

Hallelujah to the highest praise. Glorify God Almighty! We are truly blessed.

To all those that have reached out and touched my family.

We extend our most humble appreciation for your sincere prayers, love, support and generosity.

The presence of your souls has touched our lives and will never be forgotten. You are amazing children of God. Laboring to our cause are visible signs of the content of your character and that you are truly soldiers in the army of the most high.

If I never got to shake your hand, embrace you with a hug or personally say thank you. Just know you are in our hearts and bountiful prayers and blessings went up in your name.

One day soon, I will stand before you and speak of my gratitude, but until then, please allow these written words on behalf of my family and I to serve as a comfort in knowing we are undoubtedly thankful.

I love the Lord and he is definitely hearing our cry. Although, I have had some set backs, I can’t and won’t complain. The Lord is in control and he won’t put anything on me I can’t bear. God is the healer of all healers.

Through tragedy comes testimony. My spiritual testament is far greater than any blow to my head or the unjustified acts concerning these heinous crimes.

My main testament is that God will always be with you especially in times of need. Just pray and become silent. Listen with your soul to his unspoken words and become obedient unto them. Be strong in your faith and surrender your all. Allow the lord to take control because God said vengeance is mine.

Everyone always ask why didn’t you fight back? Our answer then, now and for evermore will be Almighty God. By no means was it easy to sustain we were in the midst of evil. Only a foolish man would deny God’s defeat of the devil on this day. The glorious presence of God was so strong and undeniable. A presence I have never witnessed before. One day, you will hear my testament of Gods magnificence presence on December 19 th, 2007. I will continue to say, thank you Jesus and sing if it had not been for the lord by our side, tell me where would we be, where would we be.

Special thanks to Dr. Frederick D. Hayes III and Thomas Muhammad, for commencing the E.R.A. Movement. Also BIG thanks to the F.W.B.C. staff and family, and the E.R.A movement committee and supporters. This movement overwhelmingly has not only bought support and change to our lives, but will enhance and empower all people to develop an instinctive opposition to racial discrimination all over the world .

Sincerely,
Silk Littlejohn & family
